German Farmer chooses SL450X for Feeding and Bedding his 900 Sheep

Based in Southern Germany, farming 900 sheep which are housed indoors during winter and outdoors during summer, this farmer needed a machine for bedding straw and feeding silage with his smallest tractor inside his barns… 

Supplied through Hustler Accredited Dealer, Walker-Technik in Germany, this farmer is rapt with his new purchase of the SL450X, and the time savings it is providing as a 2-in-1 machine. He’s was impressed with the large chains the build quality, and strength. 

Bedding with Straw

With troughs in his barns the SL450X was perfectly suited with its huge reach allowing him to enter just one pen and reach over the feeding trough to distribute the 6′ diameter straw bales into next pen. This means he only needs to enter one pen, instead of 3, saving him a lot of time.

Feeding with Balage

The versatility of the SL450X and the hydraulically adjustable angle of the side elevator makes for easy feeding of the silage bales in to the troughs between pens completing 2 jobs with the one compact machine. 

Not being able to fit his main tractor into his barns meant he would need to use his smaller Fendt tractor, which handled the SL450X bale feeder with ease.

Loading bales

Loading bales is easy with his small tractor too, with the headstock disconnection from the feeding cradle, with a built in safety latch that ensures the feeder can only be separated when the elevator is fully lowered. 

Distribute on both sides

The large 6′ diameter straw bales fit into the chamber well, and can be feed out to the left hand side without the elevator or the right hand side with the elevator.
